Early Vintage Gerda Lynggaard MONIES Copenhagen EBONY Wood Clip 2 Hoop Earrings

Early Minimalist ebony clip on earrings in a simplified doorknocker design by " Gerda Lynggaard pour Monies Copenhagen " from the period between 1978 and 1982. These are in the organic, simple style that made Gerda Lynggaard famous. Large, high impact, but light weight, a pleasure to wear and collect, they measure roughly 2" x 2". Gerda Lynggaard and her husband, Nikolai Monies, met in jewelry design school and began producing pieces together in 1973.

In 1974, they opened their first store, and by 1978, the company name became Gerda Lynggaard pour Monies. By 1982, the company name changed to simply, "Monies, " and by 1990, they were collaborating with design icons Chanel, Donna Karan, and Christian Lacroix. Condition: The only issue I see with these earrings is that the label has disintegrated somewhat, although the mark is clearly legible, as shown in the photos. I find no chips, cracks, scuffs, or any other signs of wear.

Clips are strong and snappy. I re-use clean packing materials whenever possible to reduce the stress on landfills. Ask me anything, I love questions.
